Canless downlights and retrofit kits: what Canless downlight means
A canless downlight is a complete fixture that mounts into the ceiling without a housing can; a retrofit kit screws into an existing can and replaces the trim and the lamp together. Match the cut-out size - 4 inch or 6 inch - and check whether the unit is rated for insulation contact and for damp locations.
