What size Igloo cooler do I need for fishing in Southwest Florida?

For inshore half-day trips, a 48-72 quart chest cooler handles most catches. For offshore or full-day trips, go with 70-150 quarts. Our team at Family Hardware can help you choose the right size based on your boat and fishing style.

How long does ice last in an Igloo cooler in Florida heat?

Igloo MaxCold coolers are rated for up to 5-day ice retention under ideal conditions. In Florida summer heat, pre-chill the cooler, use block ice as a base layer, and keep it in shade. Our staff can recommend the best model for your needs.

Built for Florida

Your Cooler for Every Florida Adventure

Whether you're heading offshore, hitting the beach, or tailgating at the stadium, Igloo has the right cooler for Southwest Florida's outdoor lifestyle.

Fishing & Boating

Chest coolers and marine-grade models built for long days on the water. UV-resistant shells, non-slip lids that double as seats, and stain-resistant liners that handle bait and catch without breaking a sweat.

Beach & Tailgating

Wheeled coolers with all-terrain wheels roll right through sand and grass. Trailmate models feature telescoping handles, cup holders, and butler trays so you can set up anywhere without a table.

Jobsite Hydration

Heavy-duty water jugs from 2 to 10 gallons keep crews hydrated in Florida heat. Reinforced handles, drip-resistant spigots, and UV-stabilized construction for year-round outdoor use.

Camping & Outdoors

MaxCold coolers with up to 5-day ice retention handle extended camping trips in Everglades heat. Soft-side coolers pack flat for day hikes and kayak trips through Florida waterways.

Cooler Innovation Since 1947

Proprietary Technology

Six innovations that make Igloo the go-to cooler brand for Florida anglers, boaters, and outdoor enthusiasts.

Ultratherm Insulation

Multi-day ice retention

Premium foam insulation engineered for maximum cold retention. Keeps ice for days even in Southwest Florida summer heat, so your drinks stay cold from launch to last cast.

Cool Riser Technology

Reduced heat transfer

Elevated base design lifts the cooler off hot surfaces like boat decks, sand, and asphalt. Reduces ground heat transfer to keep contents colder, longer.

Trailmate All-Terrain Wheels

Any-terrain transport

Oversized, never-flat wheels roll smoothly across sand, grass, gravel, and dock planks. Butler-style handle and cup holders make transport effortless on any Florida terrain.

MaxCold Performance

Up to 5-day ice

Premium insulation system rated for up to 5-day ice retention. Extra-thick walls and lid insulation keep everything at peak freshness for extended fishing trips and camping weekends.

Threaded Drain Plug

Leak-proof drainage

Leak-proof threaded drain plug allows quick and easy water draining without tilting the cooler. Garden-hose compatible on select models for hands-free drainage at the dock or campsite.

Stain & Odor Resistant Liner

Easy-clean design

Easy-clean interior liner resists stains, odors, and mildew — critical for Florida humidity. Wipe-down surfaces keep your cooler fresh season after season of fish, bait, and beach days.

Florida Tough

Built for the Heat

Southwest Florida demands more from a cooler. With summer temperatures regularly topping 95 degrees and direct sun beating down on boats, beaches, and tailgates, your cooler needs to perform. Igloo's Ultratherm insulation and Cool Riser Technology are engineered to handle exactly this kind of heat — keeping ice solid and drinks cold when other coolers give up.

How to Choose the Right Igloo Cooler

Hard-Side Coolers

Chest Coolers (25-150 qt): The classic Igloo design — maximum capacity and ice retention for fishing trips, boat days, and large group outings.
Wheeled Coolers: All-terrain wheels and telescoping handles for easy transport across parking lots, sand, and docks. Ideal for tailgating and beach days.
Water Jugs (2-10 gal): Heavy-duty hydration for jobsites, sports fields, and outdoor events in Florida heat.

Soft-Side & Specialty

Soft-Side Coolers: Lightweight and collapsible for day trips, kayaking, and lunch runs. Insulated liners keep contents cold for hours.
Ice Packs: Reusable gel packs freeze faster and last longer than loose ice. Layer them around food for even, consistent cooling.
Replacement Parts: Drain plugs, hinges, latches, and lid straps keep your existing cooler running like new instead of replacing it.
