An open wood-fire or charcoal grill with a grate you raise and lower over the coals with a crank wheel. Instead of controlling heat with a burner knob you control it with distance and with how much ember you rake under the grate. Tagwood adds a brasero firebox on the side to burn wood down to embers, S-hooks to hang cuts in the radiant heat, and fire bricks to spread heat evenly.

The freestanding BBQ03SS, BBQ06SS, BBQ23SS (XL) and BBQ26SS (XL) in stainless steel 304, the cold-rolled steel BBQ03SI, the built-in BBQ05SS and BBQ08SS, and the BBQ09SS insert kit — plus rotisserie, V-shape grates, roof grill, warming rack, brazier, wind guard, griddle, secondary grate, hooks, covers and walnut carving boards. Everything else in the Tagwood catalog is available special order.

SS models (Ultimate Series) are stainless steel 304 throughout — body, grates, griddle and hardware — for maximum corrosion resistance outdoors. The BBQ03SI (Chief Series) uses a heavy cold-rolled steel body finished in black with the same stainless 304 grates, griddle, rake and hooks, at a lower price. Both use the same crank-adjustable Santa Maria system.

In-stock grills ship partially assembled — the cart and cooking system are built and you attach the top frame, hooks bar and accessories, typically in about an hour with two people. The BBQ05SS built-in is also stocked fully assembled (BBQ05SSF), and full factory assembly can be special ordered on most models. Ask us about local delivery and setup in Southwest Florida.

All Tagwood grills come standard with round stainless grates, which sear with classic grill marks and let fat drip to the coals for flavor. V-shape grates are channeled and slightly tilted so fat runs off to a drip channel — cleaner, fewer flare-ups, and easier on delicate foods. V-shape grates are in stock as an add-on for the BBQ03/05/06, BBQ23/25 and BBQ09 families.

Yes. The BBQ05SS and BBQ08SS are built-in units sized for outdoor kitchen islands and masonry surrounds, and the BBQ09SS insert kit is designed for a custom masonry parrilla your mason builds around it. Tagwood also makes wall-mounted and built-in smoke hoods (special order) for covered lanais. Our outdoor kitchen team can coordinate cut-out dimensions with your builder or with a Challenger Designs island.
