Step 1: Assessment
Professional Inspection
We inspect the frame and mesh to determine whether a simple patch, new mesh, or complete rebuild is needed. Small holes (up to about ¼ inch) may be sealed with clear adhesive; larger holes or torn corners usually require new mesh or a frame rebuild.
Step 2: Frame & Spline Check
Component Evaluation
The spline (rubber cord that holds the mesh in place) often dries out or stretches with age. Replacing it ensures a snug fit. If the frame is bent or broken, we can fabricate a new one to match your window.
Step 3: Rescreening
Professional Installation
We cut new mesh to size and install it using a roller tool to press the spline evenly into the channels. Careful tension prevents wrinkles and ensures the mesh aligns with the frame. Excess material is trimmed for a clean finish.
Step 4: Quality Check
Final Inspection
Our technicians verify that the screen is taut, the corners are secure, and the finished product fits your window opening properly. If you need custom mesh—solar, pet-resistant, or heavy-duty—we have options in stock.

Yes, Family Hardware repairs and builds screens for both windows and doors. We can re-screen existing frames or fabricate brand new custom frames from scratch to fit any opening.
Can you build custom screens from scratch?
Absolutely. If your frame is bent, broken, or missing, our technicians can fabricate a new aluminum frame to match your exact window or door measurements and install your choice of mesh material.
Where are your screen repair locations?
We offer screen repair services at both our Cape Coral location (622 SE 47th Terrace, Cape Coral, FL 33904) and our Fort Myers location (13101 McGregor Blvd, Fort Myers, FL 33919). Both stores are open Monday through Saturday.
Do you offer pickup and drop-off for screen repair?
Yes. Pickup costs $15 and drop-off (return delivery) costs $15, available within 5 miles of either our Cape Coral or Fort Myers store. You can request pickup, drop-off, or both. Submit the request form and our team will contact you to confirm eligibility and scheduling.
Do you remove screens from my windows or reinstall them?
No. Pickup and drop-off is a delivery convenience only. We do not remove screens from your windows and we do not install or reinstall them. Please take the screens out of your windows yourself and have them ready before pickup, and plan to reinstall them yourself after they are returned.
How does screen repair pickup and drop-off pricing work?
Each leg is a flat $15 — $15 for us to pick the screens up from your home and $15 for us to drop the finished screens back off. Choosing both is $30 total. Repair charges (based on united inches) are separate and quoted after we inspect the screens.
