Simple repair deposit

A $40 deposit gets your repair started and is applied to the final cost. If the completed work comes to less, we refund the difference.

If our technician finds that the repair will cost more than the deposit, we will contact you with the details and get your approval before completing the additional work.

What We Repair

Rewiring

Replace old, frayed, or damaged wiring, including deteriorated wiring in many antique and vintage lamps.

Socket Replacement

Repair or replace worn sockets that flicker, lose contact, or no longer hold a bulb correctly.

Switch Repair

Repair or replace rotary switches, pull chains, cord switches, and three-way switches.

Cord Replacement

Replace cracked, cut, frayed, or unsafe power cords with reliable new components.

Please note: We do not currently repair lamp shades. Bring or send the lamp itself for electrical and hardware repairs.

How Lamp Repair Works

Drop off or request pickup

Drop off free at the Fort Myers store, or request $15 pickup and $15 drop-off within 5 miles of either store.

Leave the deposit

A $40 deposit is applied to your repair, and any unused portion is refunded.

Technician assessment

Our technician inspects the lamp and identifies the parts and work it needs.

Approval when needed

If the repair will exceed the deposit, we contact you before completing the extra work.

Prefer Not to Come In? Let Us Come to You

Save yourself the trip — we can collect your lamp from home and deliver it back once it's repaired. Home pickup and return delivery are a flat $15 each (choose one or both), anywhere within 5 miles of our Cape Coral or Fort Myers store. Just tell us the day that works best and we'll reach out to confirm your address and a time. This is a scheduling request, not a confirmed appointment.

Lamp Repair FAQs

What types of lamps do you repair?

We repair most table lamps, floor lamps, desk lamps, and many antique or vintage lamps. Common repairs include rewiring, socket replacement, switch repair, and cord replacement. We do not repair lamp shades.

How does the lamp repair deposit work?

Where can I drop off my lamp?

You can bring your lamp to our Fort Myers store at 13101 McGregor Blvd, Fort Myers, FL 33919 for free — no appointment is needed during store hours. If you would rather not come in, we also offer paid pickup and drop-off (see below).

Can Family Hardware pick up and drop off my lamp?

Yes. Pickup (we collect your lamp from your home) costs $15, and drop-off (we deliver the finished lamp back to your home) costs $15. You can request one or both — choosing both is $30. Both are available for addresses within 5 miles of either our Cape Coral or Fort Myers store. Submit the request form and our team will contact you to confirm eligibility and scheduling.

Do you repair lamp shades?

No. Lamp shade repair is the one lamp-related repair service we do not currently offer.
