How to Choose the Right Trowel
Finishing Trowels

High-Carbon Steel: Ideal for aggressive finishing on concrete. Develops a custom flex over time that experienced finishers prefer.
Stainless Steel: Won't discolor white or colored concrete. Easier to clean and resists rust in humid Florida conditions.
Blade Size: Use 16"–18" trowels for large slabs and 12"–14" for detail work and edges.

Brick & Margin Trowels

Philadelphia Pattern: Wide heel for picking up mortar — preferred by most masons in the southeastern US.
London Pattern: Narrow heel with a pointed tip for precise mortar placement and tight joints.
Margin Trowels: Essential for mixing small batches, spreading in tight areas, and cleaning up joints.
