The Philips InstantFit bulb is the easiest way to replace linear fluorescent light bulbs with an LED solution. The design requires an instant start ballast, with no modifications or rewiring to the existing fixture needed. These light bulbs are ideal for use in general lighting applications where fluorescent lighting is used and perfect for applications with frequent on/off switching cycles like laundry rooms, kitchens, garages, as well as offices and hospitals. These light bulbs operate well in cold temperatures and do not contain any mercury.
Philips order code 591628
This is Philips 591628, from the Philips InstantFit range, a T8 / T12 lamp. Philips prints the order code on the sleeve and on the lamp itself, and it is the surest way to repeat an order - ask for 591628 and you get the same lamp, whatever the packaging says that season.
What Philips InstantFit means
Philips InstantFit LED tubes are Type A: they run on the existing fluorescent ballast, so the tube swaps straight in with no rewiring. Check the ballast type on the fixture label before ordering - InstantFit needs a working electronic instant-start or programmed-start ballast, and will not run on a bypassed fixture.
T8 and T12 linear tubes: what T8 / T12 means
Linear tubes on a medium bi-pin (G13) base. The length and the wiring type are the two things to match: a 4 ft tube is 48 inches, and an LED replacement is Type A (runs on the ballast), Type B (direct wire, ballast removed) or Type A+B (either). The wiring type decides whether an electrician is needed.
