MR16 and GU10 reflector lamps: what MR16 / GU10 means
Compact multifaceted reflector lamps. GU10 uses a twist-lock base and runs on line voltage; MR16 normally uses a GU5.3 two-pin base and runs on 12 volts through a transformer. The two are not interchangeable — check the base and the voltage.
