Shepherd Hardware Felt Gard Pad for use on wooden legs of chairs, tables, and other furniture. Protects furniture and floor surfaces against marring and scratches. Reduces noise and friction while moving furniture with ease.
Felt pads, glides and floor protectors: matching the pad to the leg and the floor
These all do one job — keep a leg from marking a floor — and they differ in how they attach and how much weight they take. Self-adhesive felt pads stick to a flat leg bottom and are the standard answer for chairs on hardwood and laminate; commercial-grade felt is thicker and denser than the thin household sort, which is why it stays on longer under a chair that gets dragged. Nail-on glides go into a wooden leg and will not peel off. Anti-skid pads do the opposite job: they stop a piece sliding rather than helping it slide. Self-adhesive rubber sheet is what you cut to shape when nothing off the shelf fits. Size the pad to the leg, not to the room: a pad narrower than the leg concentrates the load and digs in.

Choosing the right one
- Measure the leg bottom and buy a pad at least that wide — an undersized pad marks the floor faster than no pad.
- Commercial grade is the thicker, denser felt; it is what to use under a chair that gets pushed in and out daily.
- Clean and dry the leg before a self-adhesive pad goes on. Most pads that fall off were stuck to dust.
- Nail-on glides for wooden legs that see hard use; self-adhesive for metal, plastic and anything you cannot nail.
- Anti-skid pads are the opposite product — those stop furniture moving, not help it slide.
- Replace felt when the pile is worn flat. Grit embedded in a flattened pad is what actually scratches a floor.
Ordering more than one
Count the legs, not the pieces of furniture — a dining set of six chairs and a table is 28 pads. The larger counts below cost less per pad than the small packs, and the pack options in the buy box above go further again.
